Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid leader and South Africa's first Black President, died Thursday. He closed the age of 95 years.
South Africa President Jacob Zuma announced the death of Mandela.
Mandela almost three decades in prison in the struggle to end white minority rule and discrimination against blacks in South Africa.
After his release, he appeared as a symbol of peace and reconciliation that is admired, and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. A year later, he became the first President of South Africa.
